There is nothing more fun than going out riding in an awesome spot just for the fun of it. Just riding with others and having a good time doing it for sheer enjoyment. Here are some of the spots where I go to have that experience.
Tehachapi Mountains, So Cal
Silverwood Lake, San Bernardino California
Prerunning for the Baja 1000, 2013
I did all my prerunning on my CRF450R, and then raced a TRX450R with my buddy Tom Wright in Class 24.
I had to carry an extra gallon of fuel to make it through my section each time I ran it.
This is heading North up the Pacific side of the peninsula towards Fish Camp.
Prerunning for the Baja 1000, 2008
Who needs lights for night riding? As long as the moon is full you’re good.
You know that you are on the Baja 1000 race course when you see a 570 mile marker.
RIDING WITH TED TREY
Ted Trey, 1986 ATV Motocross Nationals
So in early 2014 an old buddy of mine from Maryland came out to SoCal to do some riding- original GNCC ATV Champ Ted Trey. We had a blast riding some of my favorite spots and talking about the good old days.
Ted raced ATC250R’s for Honda, then switched to TRX’s in 1987. He had a major crash in Riverside, California in 1987, and took a break from racing until he made a comeback in the GNCC Series aboard a TRX250R in the early 90’s. We went to some GNCC’s together, including the Blackwater 100.
Ted is a great rider who paved the way for ATV racers back in the 80’s. Today he concentrates on helping his two sons ride in motocross and trials events.
Ted Trey, Lake Arrowhead, Ca
ANGELES CREST HWY, CALIFORNIA
Thanksgiving Day- perfect weather for a morning blast up the Angeles Crest with my wife Avila. It was the first trip up the Crest on her CBR500R. What a fun time!
HUNGRY VALLEY OHV, Gorman, California
February 1. Just rained. 65 degrees. Perfect!
A little over an hour’s drive North from Los Angeles is an offroad rider’s paradise. With a great mix of technical singletrack and open fire roads there is fun for every level of rider. The scenic vistas and 8000′ elevation make this ride spot an epic adventure.
I will ride pretty much anything with 2,3 or 4 wheels, but for Frazier I prefer a trail bike like the CRF250X or 450X. Green sticker gives me year round access, the low fuel consumption lets me do long loops, and e-start and a kickstand make an all day epic ride just a bit easier.
Oh yeah, the trail signs are pretty accurate!
